Part of the Dell Technologies family, VMware made their name as the leader in virtualization technologies. Over the last two decades, the efficiencies gained through virtualization have completely revolutionized the datacenter and have also since become one of the founding pillars of Public Cloud. That focus isn’t about adopting cloud for the sake of it, it’s a vision around leveraging cloud to achieve better security, efficiency, app modernization and mobility.
VMware is responsible for popularizing many of the cloud computing concepts we take for granted today. Watching a virtual server move across hardware via a ‘vMotion’ felt like pure magic when we first witnessed it. While VMware continues to dominate the Enterprise and mid-market with their core private cloud products, they’ve also put on a masterclass in shifting focus to a cloud-first strategy.

Their Cloud Foundation and Tanzu platforms are both examples that a leader can also be a disrupter and here at R2, we are fans of both.
